Rani Mukerji hoists the Indian National flag at the Federation Square in Melbourne

Rani Mukerji is currently in Australia to attend the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne which will also screen Rani’s latest film Hichki. In the movie, Rani was seen playing a teacher who suffered from Tourette syndrome, a neurological disorder characterized by repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements. The movie opened to good reviews in the domestic market and went on to record a decent box office figure. Hichki was Rani’s comeback to the big screens after giving birth to daughter Adira.

Rani along with Sanju director Rajkumar Hirani and Vicky Kaushal kickstarted the film festival by attending a press conference on Friday. Rani today hoisted the Indian National Flag at the Federation Square in Melbourne in the presence of Indian and Australian students, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and IFFM director Mitu Lange. The flag hoisting was followed by the call ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ with the Indian National Anthem playing in the background. The video does imbibe the patriotic feeling and shouldn’t be missed. Rani wore a beautiful floral print chiffon saree with a complimenting chiffon shawl to beat the cold in Melbourne. She accentuated her look with a pearl necklace and minimal makeup looking enchanting as ever.
While kickstarting the press conference on Friday, Rani said that she is very happy to represent India, her film and the fraternity in Australia. “The Indian film fraternity is so diverse, So many languages and cultures so it’s great to see films from various cultures under one roof,” she said.
